Tomb A Day #13.5 - Tomb Raider, Level 11: Obelisk of Khamoon (Again)
What’s an Obelisk of Khamoon post without the obelisk? The design of this room is one of my favorites in Tomb Raider. I feel like it was once a central plaza designed to form a foot path between the buildings and living spaces that overlook it.
It’s also my favorite place to swan dive!
this is so important
Oh my god
i thought of you, while in the shower
and i thought of how nice it’d be
to have your things among my things
along the bathtub’s edge
and i imagined myself running out of soap
and using yours
and wearing you to work, and the grocery store
and i imagined that night, laying down beside you
and smelling your neck
and finding out where all my soap had gone
Tomb A Day #2 - Tomb Raider, Training Level: Lara’s Home
"I don’t actually run everywhere. When I want to be careful, I walk."
Despite the lack of secret passages, I think Lara’s Home in TR1 still has a lot of charm. Some things I really like about it…
- If you look out the windows, you can see that it’s autumn.
- You can see a garden with a fountain through the windows at the back of the house. It’s right where the assault course is in Tomb Raider II. I always imagined that Lara ripped out the back garden to build the assault course just like how she turned her ballroom into a gymnasium.
- All of the plants placed around the pool room. For some reason, the awesome vines growing around the skylight were removed in Tomb Raider II.
I also think this tutorial does an excellent job of teaching you the game’s quirky jump behavior. It’s second nature for veteran Raiders, but I remember it seeming incredibly strange after coming from 3D platformers like Mario 64.
Tomb A Day #6 - Tomb Raider, Level 4: Tomb of Qualopec
I can never remember if this thing is going to come to life when you grab Qualopec’s piece of the Scion. Better safe than sorry!
Tomb A Day #7 - Tomb Raider, Level 5: St. Francis’ Folly
Talk about a tense level for acrophobes! Especially in the console versions where you can only save at the top and bottom of the tower.
This level is also home to two of the more famous goofs in the game. I can understand sticking Aztec and Toltec imagery in Peru, but I’m surprised that no one said “Wait a minute… Thor and Neptune aren’t Greek,” during development. On the plus side, we got a cool lightning trap out of it.
Why more gifs than usual today? Because as Thor would say, “This level, I like it… Another!”
sometimes the shit on supernatural starts seeming normal and sometimes u realize they are a couple of grown-ass men sitting in the woods around a circle of candles, waiting for a coffee machine to start talking to them thru a radio
if your boyfriend pauses call of duty to text you back, dump him because he plays shitty games
